I thought it would be fun to share with you some testimoinals that women Chiropractic students said in some of their applications for a scholarship.
It is truly an honor to be on the Board of the World Congress of Women Chiropractors. I am chairman of the scholarship committee and my job it to contact every Chiropractic College every Fall and remind the Female Students to apply for our scholarship money. We usually give 1-3 $1000. scholarships every year.
This job is close to my heart, as I received a scholarship when I was a High School student after I wrote an essay on why I wanted to be a Chiropractor.
After 25 applications came in to our Board, I reviewed all the applications, and found some of these true stories were too amazing not to share with my patients.
So here are a few, I know you will enjoy.
1. After being in school for two years, I have seen how much benefit chiropractic care can have for so many different populations and needs. One area of special interest I have in serving my community is the perinatal and pediatric populations. The United States, being considered a first-world country, has a track record of horrible birth outcome
rates for both mom and baby, compared to other first-world countries with the same resources and education. Many women are unaware about the biomechanics of birth and how much a positive impact chiropractic care during pregnancy can have on their birth outcomes.
2. I grew up with migraines and my father suffered from disabling back pain. After we both went to the chiropractor and felt so much better, I knew that I wanted to be a chiropractor. I could concentrate in school without pain and my Dad got back to a job that he loved.
3. Chiropractic can make a way for me to communicate to my community how important wellness is.
4. With almost 20,000 nerve endings in the human hand, we have the ability to discovery, assess and direct attention to patients concerns. As an athlete, I've had ups and downs with success and injury. At the crossroads of each stage, a Doctor of Chiropractic has been there to treat me, uplift me or keep me performing at my
best.
5. I was amazed at how well my Chiropractor I went to all through high school was able to take care of me and heal my quad injury in no time.
6. During my postpartum recovery I was experiencing low back pain that I thought would go away after I gave birth, but it didn't. At the time I had never gone to a chiropractor, but I knew that is where I needed to go. I began to seek treatment and felt significant improvement.
7. Chiropractic represents whole-body wellness, service, passion, intelligence, and integrity. I'm grateful to have found a career that aligns with my values in life, and dream of being able to help others as I have been helped by several Doctors of Chiropractic. The profession was founded on principles of science and patient care, without promoting
drug-pushing.
8. Becoming a chiropractor wasn't on my radar until an experience my little cousin had with one. Throughout my cousin's entire year of first grade he struggled with gastrointestinal issues that no doctor could diagnose, where he was
in and out of the hospital trying new invasive treatments with nothing working. He was in horrifying pain, and my family was extremely scared. Six months into this, someone recommended my aunt bring him to see a chiropractor because" what harm could it do at his point". My aunt was willing to try anything and this last resort option ended up completely turning around his health status. He was able to finish off first grade in person after only seeing his chiropractor for
a month. More importantly, he wasn't in constant pain anymore either and was back to being the fun, energetic kid we all missed. Growing up, I wasn't aware of conservative medicine and never knew the effects it could have until what my cousin went through. From that point on, I saw how much it affected not only him, buy my entire family and I became obsessed with the fact that I could do that for people one day as well.
Next newsletter I will share more true stories. I hope you will share this with someone who needs to know more about Chiropractic.
